Who are we _
Nelson Bay Baptist Church is as the name suggets in Nelson Bay. We are located only a short walking distance to the heart of town and the Nelson Bay Marina from which many of the dolphin and whale watching tours depart. As the name also suggests we are part of the wider denomiation of Baptist churches which operate nationally and internationally, as a committed member of the Baptist Union of NSW & ACT. If called to describe ourselves in terms of what we believe and preach it would be fair to say that we are a contemporary evangelical church. We are committed to unashamably declaring Jesus Christ as Lord, sharing the good news that Jesus has come to save and practically showing the love of Jesus to all. This committment to extends not only to our friends, family and local community but also across the world as we supports projects of social justce and freinds and family worshipping in all four corners of the globe. If called to decribe ourselves though in terms of what the church is like to part of other descriptions come to mind: We are small enough in size so that you are not left feeling lost in the crowds though big enough to feel that you are part of larger community which makes Nelson Bay Baptist a great place to belong. It offers great friendship, support and and a place to connect and experince in a tangiable way the love of Jesus. We love food and so not suprisingly much of our time together revolves around meals, morning tea after Sunday morning services, mens shed nights and dinners, women's dinners. There are peopel of all ages and all sorts of backgrounds so finding someone to connect with is not hardOf course much more could be said but really teh best way to find out about Nelson Bay Baptist is simply by coming along either to one of our Sunday services (9:30am or 6:30pm) or getting in involved in one of our groups.

The vision of this church was set a number of years ago and reaffirmed at the start of 2010. We believe the vision statment summaries who we be belive God has called us to be, a people who are Reaching, renewing & releasing people for God's Glory Fleshed out a bit it means that as a church we are seeking to: • Reach people with the love of Jesus through sharing and demonstrating the good news that Jesus has come, has dealt with teh problem of sin and made it possible for us to again have relationship with God (Matt 5:16) • Renew people through the experience of Jesus in community, worship, word and prayer. (Acts 2:42-47) • Release people in Jesus power to serve with love and use their gifts in the church and community. (Eph 4:11-12)We seek to do this is a way that shows gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15) and motivated by the desire to see God glorified. Vision exspression in 2010The potential problem of any vision is that it fails to influence what people do and so fails to ever become reality. We are committed to ensuring that this doesn't happen. We want to this vision becoming reality in the life of our church. We also know that the only way that this can happen is if the church (that is the people) makes the vision of the church their own and seek to live it out. In order to help the church to do this in 2010 the year kicked of with a series called 'ONE'. It was a 5 week series that called on everyone in the church to commit to 5 one things: one service, one person, one small group, one ministry, one mision. Committiong to these things we beleive will go a long way to helping us see our vision become relaity. If you would like more information about the one series please conatct us. We would ove to pass on the CD's of this series to you. As well as lauching the year with the 'ONE' series we also set a number of goals for the church itself to hep us reach our vision.A particular focus has been made at reaching families with the good news of the gospel We are promoting and encouraging all people in the church to be part of a small group. Our reason for this is because of the impact that small groups have on helping peopel renew in their faith. We are seeking to build confidence in a variety of ways in order to encourage people to get involved in ministry in the church.
