Rhonda Murrey is the principal psychologist of Imago Consulting and Psychology, a practice that offers quality psychological services in Nelson Bay and Newcastle.

Imago Consulting & Psychology was established in Nelson Bay as a practical response to the Church vision to care for and support the people of the wider Nelson Bay community. It was considered that a flexible and professional service of this kind would provide help to people whose needs extend beyond the parameters of normal pastoral care as well as to those who have no relationship with a church community.

Clinical services are available in response to the following types of psychological and social problems:

Compulsive sexual problems, including adultery and promiscuity

Criminal behaviours requiring assessment and the preparation of court reports

Services are provided through a number of pathways:

Rhonda is both a clinical and forensic psychologist with many years experience in the area of mental health psychology, child abuse and neglect, and has worked with both victims of childhood abuse and neglect and victims of crime.

She is also highly experienced in the assessment and treatment of sexual offending behaviours, including internet pornography, incest and paedophilia. She is the only adult therapist in the Hunter accredited at the Supervisor level with the Commission for Children and Young Peoples Child Sex Offender Counselling Scheme.

Clients with mental health-related problems such as depression and anxiety can be referred through their General Practitioner, who makes an evaluation and referral under the Focused Psychological Strategies Program. Most of the cost of the service is covered by Medicare reimbursement, with a small gap payment.
